Earth House
So often for modern barn homes, it’s the natural environment that draws us in. It was no different for our Earth House renovation. Nestled in the bush with stunning ocean views, here it was the magic of sunset over the ocean that captured our imagination.
The rammed earth cottage was brimming with character and potential. The natural connection between the home, the ocean and the surrounding bush whispered of family life, time with friends and a home overflowing with joy.
We saw an opportunity to create a home where family could flourish. Rather than compete with the original structure, with its vaulted ceilings and industrial steel staircase, we embarked on a renovation and stand-alone extension.
Working with the existing home’s industrial and raw materials, the additional pavilion connects to the main house through a glass threshold, adding two bedrooms, a bathroom and a study.
Staying true to our vision of a space for connecting with family and friends, we also built a studio, creating a place for guests to call home.
