Earth House

Earth House began with the discovery of a rammed earth cottage positioned within native bushland, overlooking expansive ocean views. The setting offered a rare combination of coastal outlook and natural privacy, with sunsets over the ocean becoming a defining feature of the site.

The existing home possessed strong architectural character, with vaulted ceilings, rammed earth walls and an industrial steel staircase forming the foundation of the original structure.

The project focused on renovating and extending the home while maintaining the integrity of these defining elements. Rather than competing with the existing form, the design introduced a complementary standalone pavilion connected to the main house via a glazed link.

Together, the renovation and new additions form a cohesive composition that strengthens the relationship between the home, the surrounding bushland and the ocean beyond.
